LDPE Geomembrane

SIGMA LDPE geomembrane is a flexible low density polyethylene liner made from high-quality polyethylene resin compounded with carbon black, antioxidants, anti-ageing and UV-resistance additives, giving an impermeable, ultraviolet-resistant film liner. Compared with traditional concrete and compacted clay, this LDPE liner is more cost-effective, safe and fast to deploy. It is widely used for solid waste landfills, waste containment, aquaculture and water treatment systems. Supplied in a complete range of widths and thicknesses — full property values are confirmed against the agreed grade per order.

What is an LDPE geomembrane?

An LDPE geomembrane is a flexible low density polyethylene liner used as an impermeable barrier in environmental and water works. SIGMA produces the LDPE liner from high-quality polyethylene resin with proportional carbon black, antioxidant, anti-ageing and UV-resistance materials, so the membrane is impermeable and ultraviolet-resistant. Like other smooth geomembranes, the LDPE liner is more cost-effective, safer and faster to deploy than traditional concrete and compacted clay.

Why buyers choose this LDPE liner

The LDPE liner combines good physical and mechanical performance with high tear resistance and strong deformation adaptability, so it conforms to irregular subgrades without failing. It resists corrosion and ageing, adapts to high and low temperature, is non-toxic, and delivers good waterproof, drainage, anti-seepage and damp-proof effects — all with a complete range of widths and thicknesses, low cost and easy installation. It is widely used for solid waste landfills, waste containment, aquaculture and water treatment systems.

LDPE vs LLDPE and HDPE

LDPE, LLDPE and HDPE are all polyethylene geomembranes but differ in density and stiffness. For projects needing the flexibility and high elongation of a GRI-GM17 grade, see our LLDPE geomembrane; for the stiffness, density and stress-crack performance of a GRI-GM13 grade, see our HDPE geomembrane. How the LDPE film liner is made

SIGMA produces the LDPE film liner from high-quality low density polyethylene resin blended with proportional carbon black, antioxidant, anti-ageing and UV-resistance additives, then extruded into a uniform impermeable sheet. The carbon black and stabilizer package is what makes the membrane ultraviolet-resistant and gives it a long service life outdoors. Because the resin is non-toxic, the same LDPE liner used for waste containment is safe for aquaculture and water storage.

Installation and seaming

The LDPE geomembrane is laid over a prepared, compacted subgrade and joined by hot-wedge welding, with extrusion welding around details and penetrations; seams can be air-pressure or vacuum tested. Thanks to its low density and flexibility the LDPE liner conforms readily to slopes, corners and irregular ground, and its low cost and easy installation make it fast to deploy. The perimeter is secured in an anchor trench, and tighter shapes such as a cone or hopper base can be fabricated as an ldpe cone liner on request.

Standards, quality and service

No single public statutory standard (ASTM, GRI or GB) governs finished LDPE geomembrane as a class — GRI-GM17 covers LLDPE and GRI-GM13 covers HDPE — so the LDPE liner is supplied to a manufacturer specification, with each property tested to its own ASTM method. We offer a complete range of widths and thicknesses and confirm the exact grade and tested values against your order. Tell us the application, required thickness and area and we will confirm availability and ship from our factory.

Frequently asked questions

What is an LDPE geomembrane used for?

LDPE geomembrane is a flexible low density polyethylene liner used for solid waste landfills, waste containment, aquaculture ponds, water treatment and storage, and canal or irrigation lining. It provides an impermeable, anti-seepage barrier and is non-toxic and UV-resistant.

What is the difference between LDPE, LLDPE and HDPE liner?

All three are polyethylene geomembranes. LDPE and LLDPE are flexible, low-density films that conform well to irregular ground; HDPE is a stiffer, higher-density liner with greater stress-crack and chemical resistance. LLDPE is governed by GRI-GM17 and HDPE by GRI-GM13; LDPE is supplied to manufacturer specification. We can advise which polyethylene liner best fits your project.

Which thicknesses of LDPE liner do you supply?

We offer a complete range of widths and thicknesses. Exact thickness grades and tested property values are confirmed against the agreed datasheet per order — send us your application and required thickness and we will confirm availability.

Is the LDPE liner UV resistant and non-toxic?

Yes. The LDPE liner is compounded with carbon black plus anti-ageing and UV-resistance additives, so it resists ultraviolet exposure and ageing, and it is made from non-toxic polyethylene resin suitable for aquaculture and water systems.

How is the LDPE geomembrane priced?

Price depends mainly on thickness, width and order quantity, plus the current polyethylene resin cost. Thinner film liners cost less per square metre than heavier grades. Send us the thickness, width and total area and we will quote a current factory price; full-container orders receive the best rate.

What is your minimum order quantity for LDPE liner?

We supply both project volumes and smaller trial orders. Because the LDPE liner is produced to order across a complete width and thickness range, the most economical quantities are full-roll and container-load shipments. Tell us your area and required thickness and we will confirm the minimum order and roll sizes.

What is the lead time and how is the LDPE geomembrane shipped?

Lead time depends on thickness, quantity and current production load. The LDPE geomembrane is supplied in rolls and shipped by sea in containers worldwide direct from our factory. Contact us with your destination port and quantity for a delivery schedule.
